A waffle board is the perfect breakfast entertaining-at-home idea! Packed with fresh fruit, compound butter and bacon, it’s a great way for your guests to build their own breakfast!
If you’ve been here for a while, you know that I love building a good board for entertaining. Food is my love language, and having friends and family over for a delicious meal is the best way to fill me up! This breakfast charcuterie board is a fun way to celebrate special occasions and feed the whole family!
Key ingredients for a waffle breakfast board
Belgian waffles
You can use store-bought or homemade waffles for this fun waffle board. Feel free to include both sweet and savory waffles, too! My apple butter waffles or light and fluffy yeast Belgian waffles are great options! If you’re going the homemade route, this waffle iron is my favorite!
Preheat your oven to 250°F and place a metal wire rack on a rimmed baking sheet.
As you make each waffle, remove it from the iron and place it directly on the rack on the baking sheet to keep it warm. The wire rack will keep the air circulating around the waffle, ensure that it won’t get soggy, and stay crisp.
Sausage or bacon
Including sausage links or bacon slices makes this the ultimate breakfast waffle charcuterie board!
Toppings
Fresh fruit – like any of my charcuterie boards, I like to include seasonal fruit on any platter. For fall, include fruits like juicy pears, blackberries, and plums. Bananas, or fresh berries like strawberries, and blueberries are great all year round!
Syrup – maple syrup or mixed berry, mix it up!
Whipped cream – the perfect topper for these delicious waffles!
Compound butter – compound butter is so easy to make and a delicious addition to this brunch board! I included maple and everything bagel seasoning compound butter on this fall version of a waffle board.
Granola – a little crunch on top is always a great idea!
Chocolate chips – for those guests with a big sweet tooth!
Spreads or jams – include peanut butter, nutella, raspberry sauce or your favorite jams to spread on each waffle!
How to assemble a waffle board
Choose a large serving tray for this brunch charcuterie board. I love this one because it has handles and a small lip around the edge to keep in all of your delicious waffle toppings and homemade waffles!
Start by placing the bowls you’re using for syrup or compound butter first.
Next, cut the waffles into quarters and arrange on the board. I like to create an “s” shape with the waffle pieces to create some movement on the board and make it visually pleasing for the eye.
Then fill in empty spots with fresh fruit bacon and granola.
Keep any extra waffles in the warm oven and refill the waffle board as needed.
